At least 140 business leaders, government officials, and community members recently gathered at the Urban Lifestyle Conference Centre in Masvingo to celebrate Stanley Kondongwe’s appointment to the Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Service (ZPCS) Commission.
The event doubled as a high-profile networking opportunity, bringing together key players from various sectors to explore collaboration, investment, and economic growth in the region.
Delivering the keynote address, Masvingo Minister of State, Ezra Chadzamira, highlighted the province’s vast investment potential.
“Events like these not only allow us to exchange insights and experiences but also serve as a catalyst for strategic partnerships. Together, we unlock new opportunities for growth, innovation, and development, paving the way for a brighter future for Masvingo and beyond,” he said. Chadzamira emphasized Masvingo’s rich natural resources, historical landmarks, and diverse economic sectors—such as tourism, agriculture, fisheries, energy, infrastructure, and ICT—as key areas for lucrative investment.
ZPCS Commissioner General, Dr. Moses Chihobvu, underscored the vital role of commissioners in driving socio-economic development and fostering public-private partnerships.
“The ZPCS Public-Private Partnership initiative is essential in bridging the gap between the private and public sectors to ensure sustainable development,” he noted.
Masvingo City, under the leadership of Town Clerk Engineer Edward Mukaratirwa, continues to champion urban modernization, advocating for the construction of high-rise buildings. The municipality commended residents for their role in the city’s transformation, citing the rise of modern infrastructure as a testament to Masvingo’s evolving urban landscape.
