Tuku victory for Selmor!
…as Zimbos fight off Tuku daughter exclusion
KUDAKWASHE CHIBVURI
Fans of the late national hero and music legend, Oliver Mtukudzi, viciously fought for his daughter, Selmor, to be included on the line-up to feature on the tribute concert to honour the late musician and their fight was not in vain.
Selmor was excluded from the line-up that featured decorated artistes like Jah Prayzah, Feli Nandi, Mbeu, Gemma, Andy Muridzo among others in a development that irked multitudes of fans who protested on various social media platforms.
The fans felt it was unfair for the organisers to celebrate the decorated internationally acclaimed icon without his daughter.
Following the protests, Selmor announced she was not going to attend the concert at Pakare Paya, Mtukudzi arts centre in Norton.
“To all who spoke up for me, you guys have been amazing,” Selmor said. “I’m extremely humbled by the love you have for my father, which has extended over to me.”
There was speculation that Selmor’s exclusion was as a result of her clash with Mtukudzi’s widow, Daisy.
Daisy has been accused of sidelining Mtukudzi’s other children from the will and other projects linked to the late lanky artist whose music united Zimbabweans across the globe.
Mtukudzi died in 2019 at the age of 66.
His death ignited a family feud that saw some of his children engaged in a brawl with his wife, Daisy.
