A NEW reality show dubbed Old Mutual Limited (OML)’s Amazing Voices kicked off Sunday on DStv and GOtv.

The show is a collaboration between financial services group OML, which is the title sponsor and has set aside US$100 000 for the winner of the pan-African show, and Multichoice Africa.

The musical show which began with mass auditions on the small screen in four countries -Zimbabwe, South Africa, Kenya and Ghana saw celebrity selectors getting the opportunity to select three groups from three genres-gospel, pop and R&B-with amazing voices.

Afro-jazz songstress, Selmor Mtukudzi, prominent hip-hop artist Takura Shonhai and contemporary gospel musician Thembalami Tagwirei, were Zimbabwean selectors.

The Amazing Voices series will premiere on DStv and GOtv channels – Mzansi Magic, Mzansi Wethu, Maisha Magic East and Zambezi Magic- for 13 weeks until April 5, 2020.

Groups with amazing voices will advance to the home ground battle, which will be the elimination stage.

Those successful, will advance to the grand stage where they will sing it out to win the grand prize.

“Old Mutual is excited to be the title sponsor for a show we believe will bring Africa together in a unique and uplifting way,” Old Mutual Limited’s chief marketing officer, Vuyo Lee, said.

“We believe that music is a universal language which is why it forms the basis of our business’s strategic sponsorship focus. Now, more than ever, the continent is ready for the unifying experience and amplification of talent we know Amazing Voices is going to deliver.”

M-Net chief executive officer, Nkateko Mabaso, said: “Reality TV will never be the same again. Amazing Voices will take viewers on the musical journey with hopefuls from the four African countries set to showcase their talents across three genres.

This will make for compelling viewing and entertainment like never before and we are glad that the show will premiere on our platforms as this reaffirms Multichoice as Africa’s best storyteller.”
