Popular musician, Winky D (pictured) is expected to headline the Braai Out festival set for this Saturday at King Fisher Park in  Harare.

He will be complemented by other artists including Selmor Mtukudzi, Uncle Epatan and Cello Culture.

On the Dj side, Judgement Yard will be on the turntables alongside Raydizz, Merciless, Dj Hush, Ace Frvr and Transit Crew.

Winky D’s performance on Saturday comes amid rumors the musician has been banned from performing his song Ibotso from his album Eureka Eureka that features controversial hip hop star Holy Ten.

Director of Tamba Events, the organisers of Braai Out, Nigel Chinovhiringa told Business Times that all the necessary paperwork was in order.

“We are excited about this event, we can’t wait for our fans to come and enjoy the day with some of the biggest acts in Zimbabwe.

“All our papers are in order, we know there is rumor circulating about the security of the event but what we can assure our fans is everything is in order” Chinovhiringa said.

He applauded the professionalism exhibited by the authorities to allow the event to happen.

“The Zimbabwe Republic Police has been very supportive and professional, the National Arts Council of Zimbabwe have been very supportive, and the Censorship Board has been supportive too. In fact, all relevant authorities have been forthcoming and we are raring to go,” he said.

The Bands vs DJ’s is a concept that is in its infancy stage and Tamba Events say it is work in progress.

“On Saturday expect fireworks, it is a concept that has never been done before that we are trying to push, it is a new experience and you should come and enjoy the day,” Chinovhiringa said.

Winky D was quoted telling his fans on stage in Bulawayo saying: “They want to arrest the music. They must leave the music to flow like water in the river.

“They don’t have to control my playlist. I have to play what I want, I have to play what you want,” said Winky D.
