Top Zimbabwean and South African actors will star in the upcoming human trafficking movie called Ziyanda.

The much-anticipated movie is expected to hit the big screens, after filming begins in November this year.

It comes after human trafficking ranks third of the world’s worst crimes with top spot claimed by drugs.

“Ziyanda is a gripping story of a young woman who battles a human trafficking syndicate.

“The film stars top South African and Zimbabwean actors. Ziyanda is Africa’s premier human trafficking story and is set to become Zimbabwe’s largest film ever in scope, magnitude and reach,” executive producer Dumisani Nkomo said.

He said the film producers envisage a high concept film meeting international standards of storytelling and production quality.

The film needs to resonate with all corners of the world, Nkomo said.

South Africa based Zimbabwean born multi-award winning film director, Bonginhlanhla Ncube, a.k.a “Mr B” has been engaged in the film as director and tasked with realising the creation of the film.

Ncube said film can contribute to sustainable economic growth of a country.

“Ziyanda is a microcosmic process which seeks to demonstrate that film is a business.

“Film can contribute to sustainable economic growth through upstream and downstream economic activities which can unlock employment creation and economic growth,” he said, adding that Bulawayo has a unique plethora of colonial buildings which are well “sought after location sets for period pieces set in the early 1900s”.

“Some of you don’t know that Daniel Crag’s first appearance in film was a film called The Power of One which was shot mainly on Railway Avenue,” Nkomo said.
