Tina Masawi makes waves in Spain

...Named the face of 2021 Blues Festival

Zimbabwe-born singer and actress Tina Masawi, who is now based in Spain, has been named the face of 2021 Spain’s Annual International Blues Festival, a first for the jamboree, BT Life & Arts can report.

The organisers of the biggest festival in Spain have also made Masawi, who has for the past three years been performing at the festival, the lead actress in the festival’s promotional film directed by renowned Catalán photographer Manuel Outumuro.

Masawi has also been asked to write the theme song “January Rain”, which she is currently working on.

She will be performing at the festival in the first week of October.

The festival celebrates 30 years this year.

Masawi’s name is not new to the jazz live music circuit in Zimbabwe and has been chasing her dreams for over five years now.

Her theatrical career began at Reps Theatre, in the capital Harare and 7Arts.

She performed and toured with Jazz Invitation for three years, before relocating to Spain.

Masawi appeared at the world-famous Teatro Royale and Gran Teatro Liceu in Spain, backed by a 60 piece orchestra.

Last year she released her very first, extended play record titled ’91, a six-track gem produced by local producer Reverb7.Tune in to any radio station in the country and you’ll be able to sing along to two of the biggest records from the project Nyarara featuring Fungai Nengare and Haundidaro.
