ELIAS MAGINYA IN GWERU
A Gweru artist, Forward Maphosa aka Skiddo (pictured) has been appointed brand ambassador for Itel shops.
He was officially unveiled last week in Gweru.
The company that manufactures electronic gadgets such sa Itel Mobile, Tchno and Infinix, has three branches in Gweru.
Skiddo said he was humbled by the honors.
“It is an honor being part of a big brand like Itel. It is an opportunity that I feel will change my life. It comes with a big challenge that I never faced in my life, being the face of such a big entity. I thank Itel for choosing me over other artistes.
I thank them for the trust they have in me and I promise to deliver as expected. I am forever grateful for the recognition. ”
He also urged fellow artistes to continue working hard.
Itel Gweru Sales and Marketing manager Bertha Mangunda vowed to continue working with artistes.
“We as Itel Mobile Gweru believe in local artistes. We hope that the engagement will improve the livelihood of the community that we are operating in. We have been working with Skiddo since 2018 and he has been doing well. thus we had to recognize him as our face.”
She also explained why Itel work with artists
“Artists play major roles in promoting products. They make the community understand our products better, basically as Itel artists make our life easy. We will continue working with them.”
National Arts Council of Zimbabwe, provincial manager for Midlands, Kumbirai Kupfavira expressed gratitude over the developments
“It is with great admiration that Skiddo has been honored and endorsed by Itel as their brand ambassador. This is a positive move not only for Itel, but for creative and cultural industry practitioners at large.
“To Itel, we as Midlands Province are proud of your engagement with various practitioners across the various genres we have. It is of great pleasure that you recognize your own style and success in art.”
A local arts promoter, Asibu Msusa also known as Bond echoed the same sentiments,
“As promoters we are so glad that one of our own boys has been appointed a brand ambassador of such a big company. It is our concern that these boys get recognised by corporations. This uplifts the artists. We are so grateful.”
