Selmor remembers Tuku

Afro jazz musician Selmor Mtukudzi revealed this week that managing the public attention and perceptions about her late father, national hero, Oliver (Mtukudzi) was one of the greatest challenges her family had to deal with.

She said the grieving process  was a bitter pill to swallow  but it was made worse by the attention that the death  of Oliver, popularly known as Tuku, brought to his family.

Tuku died in January 2019.

“… the greatest challenge, not only for me, but for the whole family was to grieve and mourn while the public was watching,”   she said.

Selmor said she misses the advice she used to get from Tuku.

“For now, we are only left to ask, what would dad do if he was here, and then we act according to what we think he would have done or asked us to do.”

Speaking on the challenges  brought by Covid-19 pandemic, Selmor said those in business should innovate and have more than one stream of income.

She urged Zimbabweans to make use of the internet in coming up with different business ventures.

Meanwhile, Selmor is set to launch her new album titled Ndangwara (I am wiser) tomorrow  at Longcheng Plaza in Harare.
