Roki ecstatic over D’banj collaboration

Star musician, Roki, is over the moon after Nigerian singer and rapper D’banj arrived in the country this week for a collaboration.

Last year, Roki, collaborated with Congolese rhumba artiste Koffi Olomide in his single track Patatti Patata.

“I am definitely very happy, I’m ecstatic, I thank God and keep counting   my blessings as a man,” Roki said yesterday.

He added: “We are yet to ’get in the zone.  ……All I can say is I am a song writer.  I have written songs for him   and he is compiling an album.

“He wants me to explore my creative artists as a singer and producer. It’s a genuine blessing and I want to learn from him as much as I can as he is a very talented artiste.”

Apart from collaborating with Roki, D’ banj, who falls under the banner of Passion Java and his record company, will collaborate with other local musicians.

D’banj, born Oladapo Daniel Oyebanjo, arrived in Zimbabwe on Tuesday.

Roki rose to fame in 2001 after releasing hits such as Seiko which featured Leonard Mapfumo and Suzanna.

He is a winner of the National Arts Merit Award.

He made a name for himself as a gifted songwriter and exceptional performer.

His album which carries the hits such as Chidzoka won best video of the year and song of the year in 2007

The urban grooves star has never looked back and has been putting in good work since then.

Some of the tracks he has released include Ndoda, Uchandifunga and Zviriko.
