Rising Chitungwiza-born producer, Jamal Brian Chimuka, who 10 years ago started off as a bedroom music producer, is yearning to create a space that has a vibe to attract international artists.
In the domestic space, the 27 year old Chimuka, who is also a graphic designer, has already made waves.
He now wants international celebs in the next five years to come in and out of his space to create their next hits.
“In the next five years I see myself as an international producer, collaborating with other producers from other countries and also working with big artists from other countries,” Chimuka told Business Times.
The former Manyame High School student refused to use his rough start in life as an excuse for just sitting back and has become one of the most sought after producers in Zimbabwe.
He is the sound engineer and producer of his own music production company, No Limits Entertainment.
“I started producing in 2011 when I finished my O’ level and I was 17 years old by then. I used my bedroom as a studio by that time,” he said.
Later on I moved to Chitungwiza to stay with my brother because in Manyame we were not allowed to bring visitors by the base authorities and for me it was a disadvantage. I couldn’t work with a lot of people or different artistes.
“I named the studio ‘No Limits’ because I am not confined to a specific genre. I am versatile; I record any type of music.”
His breakthrough came after producing T’Gonz and Ishan single titled, ‘Kure’ in 2019 which won five awards which included the Best African Pop Song, Best Newcomer, Best Collaboration, Most Played on Star FM and Song of the Year.
Other hit songs that he produced include Chocoloco by Herman and Siya Something by Enzo Ishal.
Recently, he produced a ‘Riddim’ for Nash Tv Zimbabwe featuring artistes like Enzo Ishal, Daruler, Ti Gonzi, Dobba Don and Stunner.
“I have a lot of projects coming soon, Freeman ft Poptain, I’m working on a Nash TV gospel album, new riddims and singles.”
The producer said he got his inspiration from Andre Romalle Young, known professionally as Dr Dre, an American rapper, audio engineer, record producer and entrepreneur.
“My special thanks go to Gangsta, the guy I work with, Tinashe Mutarisi, Nash Tv Zimbabwe crew, and all the DJs from various radio stations across the country,” he said.
