The city of Bulawayo is seeking investors to value add and  beneficiate local raw materials, the Minister of State for  Provincial Affairs and Devolution for Bulawayo Province, Judith Ncube,  has said.

“(There are) various business opportunities available to investors in Bulawayo Metropolitan Province that include to manufacturing, infrastructure development sanitation energy and power development, agriculture, tourism and mining,” Ncube said at the Zimbabwe international Trade Fair 2022 International business conference, last week.

“Investors are welcome in all the sectors with more emphasis on value addition and beneficiation of the local raw materials and integration of the province into national and regional industrial value chains.

She said Bulawayo was granted the special economic zone status making it one of the most competitive location for investors who want to focus on exporting their products.

Meanwhile, the City of Bulawayo and the City of Polokwane in South Africa are set to twin, six years after signing a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to strengthen co-operation in trade and development.

The thrust of the initiative is to create economic development of the region through value addition, increased expqorts and generation of sustainable employment.

Bulawayo Mayor Solomon Mguni said various partnership are being created in a bid to help transform the economy.

He said a number of projects were identified under the MoU, which covered sectors such as agriculture, arts and culture, manufacturing and energy, among others.

Mguni said the presence of the delegation “is a clear commitment to the implementation of the strategies and projects that will transform our provinces and nations”.

Limpopo provincial government and head of delegation Matodzi Rathumbu said the main purpose of their visit was to identify projects that can be shared between the two cities through the 2016 MoU, which will be of mutual benefit.
