TICHAONA KATSVAMUTIMA IN CHINHOYI
A Chinhoyi man with Down Syndrome was over the weekend given a special celebration by the business community and members of the Methodist church at Chinhoyi Showgrounds.
Shingirai Gumbochuma aka ‘King’ turned 41. The branch manager of insurance company, Doves’ Chinhoyi branch, Khalid Chilembwe, was the convener of the party.
Chilembwe said he always meet Gumbochuma at funerals in Chinhoyi.
It is against this background that Chilembwe initiated the event and persuaded the local business leaders to help make the event a success.
“…After his request I said to him I want to celebrate your life whilst you are alive. So, I approached my colleagues who bought the idea of hosting King a party. Business people in Chinhoyi contributed,” Chilembwe said.
Speaker after speaker described Gumbochuma as a loving person and God fearing.
Speaking to Business Times Gumbochuma said he wasn’t expecting Chilembwe would mobilise people and host a birthday party for him.
“It was my first time to celebrate my birthday as I have turned 41, thanks to Chilembwe who engaged the business community to host such a party. Let them continue to assist less privileged people in Chinhoyi. God will richly bless them,” Gumbochuma said.
