President Emmerson Mnangagwa will on Wednesday grace a gala dinner meant to raise US$500 000 for the upkeep of the Warriors in the upcoming Total 2019 Africa Nations Cup tournament which kicks off on June 21 in Egypt.
The Zimbabwe National Football team Fundraising Committee is organizing Wednesday’s dinner.
The committee was appointed by President Mnangagwa last month to raise funds for the team which is drawn in Group A with hosts Egypt, Uganda and Democratic Republic of Congo.
Fundraising committee spokesperson Eve Gadzikwa said the resources raised would be applied towards their rightful purpose and fully accounted for.
“We are targeting to raise US$500 000 which will go towards the upkeep of the Warriors and other ancillary requirements,” Gadzikwa said.
This is the fourth time the Warriors have qualified for the tournament after participating in the 2004, 2006 and 2017 editions.
