The  winners of this year’s Black British Business Awards will be announced in October.

“I am encouraged the global cultural landscape is changing and is changing so rapidly and as an advocate for passionate  advocate for African talent I am excited to be playing my part,” Mavunga told Business Times.

She added: “ I moved  from Zimbabwe to the UK when I was four and I remember growing up in London it wasn’t always straight forward  to find role models in the public domain that I connected to as an African child .

So this nomination is an opportunity for my story to inspire young African girls even if it’s just one person that can take something from this. That’s just huge.“

“I am honestly truly honoured. The Black British Media Awards celebrates excellence amongst black professionals in the UK so to be nominated as  in the arts and media category is  unreal”.  Mavunga says.

Mavunga was previously based in Johannesburg, as Head of Talent and Music for Viacom Africa working on MTV Base, BET Africa and Nickelodeon channels.

Then later joined Sony Music as Head of Publicity for Columbia UK in 2015, where she was in charge of press strategy across the label and led campaigns for artists including Childish Gambino, Koffee, Wizkid, Davido and Rosalia.
