Christopher Tapererwa, the Group Risk Manager of First Mutual Holdings Limited, a publicly traded financial services group, has made history after receiving the prestigious global Certificate in Risk Governance, becoming the first person in Zimbabwe to obtain this global honour, Business Times can report.
The world’s leading source of risk governance training and credentials for board members and C-suite executives, DCRO Institute, revealed on Tuesday of this week that Christopher had received the worldwide honour.
Before taking on the the position of Group Risk Manager with First Mutual Holdings Limited, which operates across insurance, re-insurance, wealth management, and microfinance, among other areas, Christopher served as the Head Actuarial/ISO Management representative for NicozDiamond and as Risk Officer for the then Eagle Insurance, a subsidiary of Zurich SA.
Christopher was recognized as Risk Leader of the Year in 2022 by the Enterprise Risk Management Institute of Zimbabwe and received the Top Student Directors Award in the same year from Stellenbosch University.

The Certificate in Risk Governance is awarded to those who have completed The Board Members’ Course on Risk – an intensive 17-course education program and evaluation.
The curriculum is designed for current and aspiring board members who seek to advance the governance of risk-taking at their organizations and those who interact with boards.
Taught by some of the world’s leading figures in risk governance, the program features lessons by nearly 50 board members, C-level executives, and well-known authors from five continents.
