SRC splurges US$1m on Warriors

The Sports and Recreation Commission (SRC)  says it will spend about US$1m to finance the Warriors’ AFCON adventure in Cameroon.

 

The AFCON tournament runs from January 9 to February 6,2022.

 

“…(Its) made up of US$800 000 and ZWL$21 000000 to finance their participation at AFCON, inclusive of appearance and match fees,” SRC said in a statement on Wednesday.

The Warriors have been camped in Yaounde since December 30, 2021.

But, on Wednesday shifted to the Games Village in Baffousam, located about 220 kilometres from the capital Yaounde.

Now, the Confederation of African Football will take care of the team’s logistics and accommodation.

Zimbabwe will open their campaign against Senegal on Monday at Kouekong Stadium in Bafoussam.

Four days later, the Warriors will play Malawi at the same venue before facing Guinea at the Ahidjo stadium in Yaounde.
