ZIMRA boss steps down

The country’s tax collector, ZIMRA’s acting commissioner general, Rameck Masaire, will step down  from his role at the end of this month.

 

Masaire re-joined ZIMRA as commissioner domestic taxes on September 1, 2018, coming from EY. He served in that role until February 1,2021, when he was appointed acting commissioner general of ZIMRA, the role he has been executing until his retirement notice on December 30, 2021.

 

Board member, Morris Mpofu will replace Masaire in an acting capacity up to the end of April, with the hope that a substantive commissioner general will be in place.

 

“ZIMRA board announces the early retirement of (Rameck) Masaire.The retirement is with effect from February 1, 2022. With his vast tax knowledge and experience, he provided valuable leadership to the organization and the team that he has been working with over the years.

 

“A number of notable achievements have been recorded during his time with ZIMRA, which will remain an invaluable legacy for the organization and the nation. The board takes this opportunity to thank Masaire for his contribution to the organization and wish him well in his future endeavors,”ZIMRA vice board chairperson Josephine Matambo said in a statement.

 

She added: “In the same breath, on behalf of the board, I announce the appointment of board member, Moris Mpofu as acting commissioner general with effect from January 1, 2022 until April 30, 2022 with the hope that within that period the recruitment process for the substantive commissioner general would have been  finalized.”
