As early as 1999 Mercedes-AMG set a milestone with the ML 55 and th combination of high performance engine in the skin of a Sport Utility Vehicle opened up an entirely new market segment.

The performance and sports car brand now occupies a unique position in the competition again as it presents its new mid-size performance SUV, the Mercedes AMG GLC 634MATIC+ SUV and Coupé plus the Mercedes-AMG GLC 63 S 4MATIC+ SUV and Coupé.

For the first time, a mid-size SUV is now also available with the powerful eight-cylinder bi-turbo in two outputs. The Mercedes-AMG GLC 63 S 4MATIC+ and Coupé are at the starting gate. Their temperament cannot be overlooked and these cars are made for speed.

When do dynamics begin? When the sight of muscular shoulders and powerful lines increases your pulse rate, the exterior of the Mercedes AMG GLC 63 S 4MATIC+ Coupé is characterised by expressive aesthetics. The distinctive taillights and the AMG rear apron with diffuser and diffuser board in black add more expressiveness. The AMG sports exhaust system provides another visual accent at the rear with two chrome-plated twin tailpipe trim elements.

The powerful sound of the V8 engine rounds off the impressive presence of the SUV Coupé perfectly.

AMG sports seats provide optimal lateral stability in banking and the optional AMG performance seats guarantee more comfort, even on the racetrack.

At the same time, the AMG performance steering wheel in nappa leather/microfibre Dinamica ensures optimal grip. Now just put on the crystal grey safety belts and get the car in the starting position.

“Optimal performance – that is our aim. It’s in our genes. We develop drive technologies that leverage their technical superiority in every driving situation for this purpose. For us, the new GLC 63 4MATIC+ is quite a special vehicle.

It is no easy job designing an SUV to be highly sporty and dynamic while at the same time offering inherent extreme driving stability. This required us to put our heart and soul, along with our many years of SUV expertise, into the development of this vehicle. The result is an SUV that can be driven with high precision and agility and which, if required, is equally at home on a high-speed lap of the race track,” said Tobias Moers, chief executive of Mercedes-AMG GmbH.

“With our V8 bi-turbo engine, we hold a decisive USP in the Performance market. What is more, with SUV and Coupé, we offer the widest choice in the segment.

Also, the technical closeness to our sports cars is visually underlined by the Pan Americana grille, which was previously reserved for our AMG GT models.

” A full 375 kW of power and 700 Nm of torque are available for uncompromising acceleration and the speedometer is at 100 km per hour after 3,8 seconds.

The SUV and Coupé variants of the Mercedes-AMG GLC 63 4MATIC+ and GLC 63 S 4MATIC+ are also available at launch as an “Edition 1” specialmodel: the exclusive combination of equipment details turns the special model into the flagship of the range.

In both body variants, the Night package in high-gloss black enhances the racing-inspired looks. The matt black 21-inch cross-spoke forged wheels are provided with highlights in the form of yellow or high-sheen rim flanges.

The 4,0 litre eight-cylinder bi-turbo engine is already used in numerous AMG Performance vehicles. It is also installed in the AMG GT sports car with dry sump lubrication.

A characteristic feature is that the two turbochargers are positioned not on the outside of the cylinder banks, but inside the cylinder “V”.

The main advantages of this design are the compact engine construction, optimal response and low exhaust gas emissions.
