Fungisai at it again

When gospel musician Fungisai Zvakavapano-Mashavave turned to Zim-dancehall, pundits thrashed her saying she used the wrong genre to spread the word of God.

The backlash was not enough to thwart the musician’s love to spread her message through dancehall ‘riddims’.

Now, the singer has announced that she will release a track titled “Kumusoro” that will have two music videos; a ‘club’ version and a church version.

The musician yesterday said there is a need to appeal to every Zimbabwean so that they may know that there is God in heaven.

“Jesus said there is need to reach out to people, hence why we decided to have two video versions of the song. As gospel musicians, we need to preach everywhere,” she said.

The singer said while she is guided by Christian values she will make sure that the gospel is preached in every part of the country.

Turning to the song, Fungisai said its an inspiring sermon which encourages people to trust in God during bleak situations.

“The song has two videos, a club version and a family version. One features children from the community and the other features members of the “Churchperson Club”; a youth club made up of my fans” she said.

She said the club version will also discourage youth from taking drugs and substances that might destroy their future and health.

“I am making sure that the song is released on all radio stations in the country. We have tried to create a song and video that will be relate-able for young people,” she said.

Upon being asked if the musician is not worried that she might receive backlash over the club version of her song, Fungisai said she is just doing her job and wants to reach out to as many fans as she can.
