ED appoints Chasi Energy minister in Cabinet adjustment

President Emmerson Mnangagwa has appointed Fortune Chasi as Energy and Power Development minister. He takes over from Joram Gumbo who is now the Minister of State Presidential Affairs in charge of Monitoring and Evaluation.

Chasi is the former deputy minister of Transport and Infrastructural Development.

The changes come as Gumbo has been under increasing pressure to deal with the fuel shortages although he always insisted that the situation was a payments issue.

Meanwhile, Mackenzie Ncube is now the board chairman of the National Oil Infrastructure Company taking over from Jemias Madzingira who has been retired.
