Chamisa vows to set up new Govt

HARARE – Movement for Democratic Change Alliance President Nelson Chamisa has said he will proceed in setting up a new government despite the announcement of election results by the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission election results which proclaimed victory for the incumbent President Emmerson Mnangagwa.
Chamisa claims the electoral results were manipulated in favour of Zanu PF’s Mnangagwa who bagged 50,8 percent  while Chamisa came up 44 percent.
Chamisa is claiming that the results announced by the national electoral body does not tally with the V11 statistics, which the country’s biggest opposition party is in possession of.
Allegations are that certain ballot boxes were seen in an open truck, accompanied by polling officers  and that the ballot boxes were not sealed. The ballot boxes did not have the required V11 forms which should be attached, according to Chamisa .
“I want to underscore that we have a very serious challenge in this country. We have a divided nation and we are also facing a brutalised people. This is why I think the declaration that Mnangagwa won the July 30 elections is such a regrettable decision and I must say he did not win the election.
“The election in this country was won by MDC Alliance and we won it emphatically. We have our tally, whose tally we are ready to give who want to see it. We have engaged ZEC and we want to give them the tally but of course they didn’t even want to listen to us. They actually misled Morgan Komichi to say we were going to do verification of the statistics before announcing the results and he was kept waiting in a room only to be told that the results were already being announced, something that we did not take lightly because in terms of the law we are supposed to have the verification of the statistics and that was not done,” said Chamisa.
Chamisa noted that the MDC Alliance has nothing to do with the disturbances that happened in the City Centre where the party supporters clashed with security agencies.
He said the July election as the presidential result is fraudulent, illegitimate and characterised by serious credibility gaps.  Chamisa said it must be made clear that MDC Alliance won the election.
