ED reaches out to Chamisa

HARARE – President-elect Emmerson Mnangagwa has reached out to Nelson Chamisa saying the MDC Alliance leader has a role to play in Zimbabwe’s present and its future.
In his first public appearance since winning the Presidency after Monday’s harmonised elections, Mnangagwa said it was his duty and that of Chamisa to call for peace.
Mnangagwa won the race with 50,8 percent ahead of his  Chamisa who polled 44 percent of
the ballots.
“To Nelson Chamisa, I want to say: You have a crucial role to play in Zimbabwe’s present and its unfolding future,” Mnangagwa said.
“Let us both call for peace and unity in our land, call for both louder than ever. That is the role of leaders. That is our joint responsibility.”
Chamisa is disputing the results saying they were rigged.
On Wednesday, violence broke out in the capital claiming six lives as soldiers stepped in to quell rioters who were on a rampage destroying property after the demonstration against the delay in the release of Presidential results turned nasty.
Mnangagwa said he would set up an independent commission composed of local and international experts to  probe Wednesday’s violence which saw soldiers using live ammunition against civilians.
