Buhera villagers appeal for assistance

Villagers in Buhera district are appealing for assistance to repair and replace roofs of  classroom blocks at three schools that were blown away  by hail storms between November last year and January this year, Business Times can report.

The affected schools are Zvomoyo Secondary School, Mafuruse Primary School in Buhera Central’s Ward 22 and Barura Primary School in Ward 28 of Buhera South constituency.

This has left learners now conducting lessons in the open.

Leaonard Mabasa of the Buhera Residents Network Trust told Business Times that residents were worried.

“We are now appealing to the authorities and partners who deal with disasters to intervene because the schools, the learners and teachers have been traumatised by the harsh weather conditions, and quality education services have been affected in the respective schools and there is need to restore normalcy in the schools and are concerned as we continue to offer solidarity,” Mabasa said.

Efforts to get a comment from Members of the National Assembly for Buhera Central and South constituencies,  Matthew Nyashanu and Joseph Chinotimba respectively were in vain.
