An ode to our advertisers, subscribers

The curtain on the tumultuous 2020 comes down next Thursday with company executives wondering how they managed to steer the ship in such a difficult year.

The outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic and measures to stem the virus disrupted businesses and how individuals would live.

Lockdowns, mask up, social distancing and sanitise became the buzzwords.Businesses had to quickly adjust.

The usual physical AGMs were replaced by virtual meetings in line with restrictions on gatherings to 50 people set by authorities as part of measures to stem the spread of the virus.

Conferences and seminars went virtual.

Your favourite paper had to adjust and , in the interim, went for an e-paper format to continue giving valued advertisers and subscribers their favourite paper as restrictions put in place meant that the distribution of the physical paper was a hustle.

We quickly sensed that there would be challenges in delivering the physical paper, moreso, when one required an exemption letter to move around and when businesses executives were mostly working from home.

We embraced the new normal.Where we used to deliver a physical copy every Thursday, we replaced that with an e-paper delivered on electronic mails every Thursday.

We are grateful to our advertisers and subscribers for embracing the e-paper which has a wider reach than a physical copy would have attained.

We take note of the feedback we get every week and we will strive to produce a solid paper with cutting edge stories and analyses in line with our pay off line “Redefining Business”.

New sections would be introduced in 2021 to give our valued customers a one-stop shop for news.

We pay tribute to our advertisers and subscribers who continued doing business with us even as the devastating Covid-19 pandemic had drilled holes in companies and individual finances.

We would not have pulled through without the support from the two constituencies, the lifeblood of the newspaper business.

As an African proverb notes, if you want to go fast go alone, if you want to go far, go together.

We will go far together with you, our valued advertisers and subscribers. We are in this business to stay.

We don’t know any other business other than giving you engaging stories on our distribution channels—e-paper, website and social media platforms.

The channels will be expanded in 2021 to cover as much ground as possible.Merry Christmas and a prosperous 2021!

Remember to mask up, practice social distancing and sanitise.
