Take AG reports more seriously
You have to feel sorry for the Auditor-General (AG)’s office.
It seems like no one pays that office enough attention.
In compliance with the law, the AG’s office sift through the financial records of the State-entities .
Subsequently, the AG presents comprehensive reports to Parliament regarding the financial administration of every government entity.
The audits are crucial because they provide the public the most accurate picture of how the State entities are using tax payers funds.
Most of them are perennial loss-making entities and depend on Treasury bailouts to continue operating.
It appears no one pays the AG’s office enough attention.
The Auditor-General’s reports contain recommendations for improving, where necessary, the financial management of departments. In making these recommendations, the AG is acting on behalf of the public.
After all, the State-entities are spending huge amounts of public money, and the public wants to know if its money is being properly used.

According to the report, the majority of government entities are losing millions of dollars because they fail to maintain track of invoices, bank account registries, unvouched expenses and supporting documentation.
