All-new Audi A4: Variations on a moving theme

There exists a rare, almost musical moment when driver, car and road come together to create a fleeting but unforgettable experience.

The latest Audi A4 family was engineered to deliver such moments with refined power fueled by unique TFSI engine variants combined with available advanced driver assistance features and the capability of Quattro all-wheel drive. Your choice between the Audi A4, A4 all-road and S4 models just determines how.

The intelligent yet unpretentious Audi A4 helps you exude a new type of confidence with a refined design aesthetic. Plus, Audi drive select and available Audi virtual cockpit help keep the driver informed and in command.

Along with the intelligently applied power of the 20 liter TFSI engine, the Audi A4 has the street smarts to make for a smart, connected drive.

To be frank, with the Audi S4, there is no line. Audi engineers brought together fine premium materials and technologies like available diamond-stitched Fine Nappa leather and a twin-scroll turbocharged 3,0 liter TFSI V6 engine to create the ultimate balanced drive.

With distinctive Aluminum-optic exterior accents and an available quattro sport rear differential, you have the agility and aesthetics to redefine your concept of sport luxury. There is a certain liberty in knowing that you can bring civilization with you when the tarmac turns to gravel. The Audi A4 all-road, with its aluminum roof rails and fenders with rugged contrast cladding or available full-paint finish, helps give you self-assurance for the changing road ahead.

The angular LED headlights and rigid LED daytime running lights help give this car a strong signature on the road, with confident lines running from the front of the car tothe rear, where the LED tail-lights anchor the powerful look.

Of course, the Black Edition takes the stylishness to a new level, with metallic paint included, as well as 19-inch alloy wheels in Audi’s signature ‘Rotor’ design, plus there’s standard-fit sports suspension that lowers the car down by 20mm over the top of those rims. It looks mean. Audi made some changes to the exterior, but it takes a sharp eye to spot the differences. The grille, and front and rear fascias have all been revised, and the A4 rides on 19-inch wheels with a new design.

The previous round exhaust tips were exchanged for rectangular units, and Audi says the design of taillights has been changed. The optional S Line appearance package will see some changes as well.

The current base model of the Audi A4 starts at $36 000 and can go all the way up to $50 000 depending on the variant. Given the minimal changes that are on the pipeline for the face-lifted A4, don’t expect Audi to start jacking up the price of the sedan.

Diesel units are also expected to continue. That means that in markets where they’re still popular, Audi could launch the updated A4 with either a 2.0-liter four-banger or a 3,0 liter V6 TDI.

The four-cylinder is capable of producing 148 horsepower and 236 pound-feet of torque while the latter comes with an output ranging from 215 ponies and 295 pound-feet to 268 horses and 443 pound-feet.

It is interesting that the test mule being used is the 45 TFSI model. Using Audi’s new and admittedly confusing naming structure, this version could be using the 2,0 liter TFSI gas engine.

No matter what people say, there really are just two models that compete directly against the Audi A4. One of those models is the BMW 3 Series, considered by many as the bar that Audi and Mercedes measure their models against
