ZOL rebrands to Liquid Home Zimbabwe

Zimbabwe’s leading internet service provider, ZOL, has  rebranded to Liquid Home Zimbabwe, as it aligns itself top parent company, Liquid Intelligent Technologies.

The rebranding, a decade after ZOL was acquired by Liquid, comes at a time the demand for home connectivity has increased dramatically to cater for employees working remotely and online learning which have been necessitated by the need to contain the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Wellington Makamure, Regional CEO of Liquid Intelligent Technologies Southern Africa said the new brand identity is going to ensure streamlined service delivery and assure customers of the company’s continued commitment to offer uninterrupted internet services.

He said the company is determined to champion Zimbabwe’s digital transformation by partnering the government to deliver Internet access to every citizen.

“As we continue to grow, we are dedicated to widening our connectivity reach by increasing our infrastructure by doing so, pioneering our country’s digital transformation where more and more businesses and people are reliant on digital technologies,” he said.

“We are committed to working together with the Government to empower all Zimbabweans with online access and all the benefits it brings. Already, the government has played a key role in enabling our infrastructure expansion.”

ICT, Postal and Courier Services minister Jenfan Muswere described the rebranding as a milestone for Liquid Home.

Muswere hailed ZOL for the crucial role it played during the pandemic through services that ensured that business continued operating with employees working from home while student continued with classes, online.

“The pivotal role ZOL has played in Zimbabwe’s economic growth, and the quality of its people’s lives became even more evident during the last two years when the COVID-19 pandemic struck. Thanks to ZOL for bringing high-speed connectivity to thousands of homes, many businesses could continue their operations remotely,” he said.

“We look forward to working with Liquid Home and other players through our Smart Zimbabwe 2030 Master Plan, building on the victories we have already achieved and moving towards a more connected, economically robust, and influential Zimbabwe.”

As part of the rebranding, Liquid Home Zimbabwe will ensure the seamless transfer of all customer accounts from ZOL.

Customers will enjoy the same benefits they did under the previous brand name, and on the same terms and conditions as their existing contracts, ensuring no disruptions to the services provided.

Since its acquisition in 2012 by Liquid, ZOL has increased its reach exponentially aided by the support and backbone infrastructure from the parent brand.

Liquid Home has already deployed 258 LTE base stations, some of them in remote rural areas where previously access to the internet was difficult and almost impossible to achieve, such as Lupane, Mvurwi, Rusape, Karoi, Mrehwa, Chipinge, Hwange, Shurugwi, Dulibadzimu, Beitbridge, Magunje, Binga, Gutu and Tsholotsho.

The LTE network has connected over 50,000 people to date and has the capacity to connect over 150,000.
