Zimtile will next year double production capacity after taking delivery of roof tile pallets and concrete bricks and pavers’ machine, the company has said.

Zimtile’s chief executive officer, Hillary Munyati told Business Times on the sidelines of the company’s ISO 9001:2015 certification ceremony yesterday that the company was currently producing 44 000 tiles a day and is expecting to double the figure to 88 000 per day next year.

Zimtile, a unit of PG Industries, is also producing 100 000 bricks a day. It will produce about 200 000 bricks concrete bricks and pavers’ machine in the first quarter of 2019.

“Demand in Zimtile products has increased significantly in the last two years,” Munyati said.

“Our installed production capacities have not been able to satisfy this upsurge in demand.

This unfortunately, has resulted in Zimtile not delivering products to our valued customers on time despite running day and night shifts since July of 2017.

“The good news to our valued customers and stakeholders is that we have plans to resolve our capacity constraints in the first quarter of 2019.Additional new roof tile pallets will be received beginning of 2019. This will enable Zimtile to double its current roof tile production capacity. Zimtile will also acquire a state of the art high capacity concrete bricks and pavers machine in the first quarter of 2019,” he added.

Zimtile will decentralise production to selected centres outside Harare.
