Zimra: Kiosk fuel raises SMEs compliance

The Zimbabwe Authority Revenue (Zimra) says the recently set up kiosks for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) has increased compliance by the sector.

Zimra is embracing digital services in line with global trends as the country has accelerated its digitalisation drive, especially in the financial services sector.

It recently launched a self-service Kiosk at Mhlahlandlela Building in Bulawayo.

Commissioner for customs and excise Batsirai Chadzingwa said the kiosk is meant to assist taxpayers who do not have computer gadgets.

“The kiosk is meant to assist taxpayers who do not have computer gadgets and internet to register, submit their tax returns and validate Tax Clearance Certificates.

Small to medium clients are benefiting from this facility which is making their tax compliance easy,” Chadzingwa said.

With devolution being one of the key pillars to achieving an upper middle income society by 2030, the President Emmerson Mnangagwa administration continues to avail the necessary framework for Zimbabweans to participate in the development agenda of the country to ensure that no one and place is left behind.

The informal sector meets statutory obligations by paying the Presumptive Tax and Value Added Tax.

Chadzingwa said the organisation has been steadily improving its tax administration by increasing taxpayer outreach.

“As well as e-services, and improving the use of risk management in conducting taxpayer audits. Our primary mandate is revenue collection and facilitation of trade and travel,” he said.
