Zimbabwe’s premium car distributor, ZIMOCO, has donated a new vehicle to Harare children’s home.
The car was handed over during a Christmas party held for the home, in Eastlea, Harare.
Speaking at the handover ceremony, Sue Crossley said: “Following the fire at Harare children’s home there was a massive community drive to assist them in rebuilding, and so on around that time we were prepared to assist. They brought their vehicle to ZIMOCO to have it serviced, it was way beyond servicing.
“It was in a tired state. ZIMOCO decided they will go one step further and replace the vehicle and donate a vehicle to Harare children’s home.
Louisa Evans, the marketing director for ZIMOCCO who came up with the idea to host a Christmas party for the children said: “For me the most important thing is the children at the home, it is important for me and ZIMOCO as an organisation is to give back to the community and giving back to those children who are less fortunate than ourselves.
Harare children home director Mrs Mariah Sithole was grateful for the gesture.
She said: “ZIMOCO has relieved a lot of transport problems for us, we had our old car, we kept fixing and servicing it, but it was now on its knees, after the fire when ZIMOCO came and asked how they could assist we said maybe they can help fix the car but here we are today, happy days ahead.”
Sithole continued, saying, “We are very happy; Harare Children’s Home is here only because of you supporting us.”
She also thanked everyone who consistently stops by and lends a hand in different ways.
