The Marketers Association of Zimbabwe (MAZ) on Friday named ZiFM Stereo, a unit of AB Communications, among the country’s top 200 brands.
The superbrands were selected through a rigorous process.
The Superbrand concepts, which was adopted in Zimbabwe in 2010, identifies local brands that are performing well above others within the market.
The concept also stimulates the spirit of developing sustainable strong brands, which contribute to economic development.
Other brands that made it to the top 200 include Star FM, CABS, CBZ, Chicken Inn, Ecocash, Lobels, Toyota Zimbabwe, Sunlight, Mazoe ,Ngwerewere, PPC, Securico, Zimnat, Econet, Castle, Gloria, FBC, Nedbank, CIMAS, Black label, Astra Paints, Africom and Lobel’s.
Guest speaker at the launch, CIMAS CEO, Vulindlela Ndlovu said: “Zimbabwe face many adversaries but let’s be inspired to create strong brands. Being marketers, we are the creators of brands. Let’s grow them (brands) to become global brands. We need to do better for us to leave a mark in what we are doing.
Ndhlovu added: “I am inspired because Zimbabwe has the potential to do good. Look at Inscor Africa Limited. They were not known a decade ago, but they are now all over Africa. The same with Seed CO. It’s a challenge I want to leave Zimbabwe marketers with.”
