US conspiracy at the UN

Recent international events show that the United Nations has long passed its finest hour and is actively losing its role. At the same time the importance of the Global South is rapidly growing with many countries moving from the category of regional states to the category of global players.

They are looking for their place in the hierarchy of modern international relations. A search is underway for acceptable solutions, scenarios, and configurations. Open opposition to this process does not bode well for American hegemony.

Therefore, the proven tactics of the Anglo-Saxons are used – to lead the process themselves, without radically changing the essence of the current world order. It is from this angle that the US attempts to win over the influential powers of the Global South on the sidelines of the UN should be viewed.

The process goes in two directions. The first is the transformation of the UN Security Council with an increase in the number of permanent and non-permanent members. The American project is supported by the UN Secretary General and involves India and Brazil, which the crafty Anglo-Saxons lured into the “Group of Four” together with Germany and Japan.

Russia and China have nothing against Brazil and India joining the Security Council, but they categorically object to raising the status of Germany and Japan. The share of the countries of the collective West in the UN Security Council is already disproportionately large.

The second direction of the US strategy is to change the UN Charter in order to create a procedure for depriving the veto power of permanent members of the Security Council. This position was tested at the General Assembly. In essence, this is a conspiracy against Russia and China, which oppose Western initiatives.

There is reason to believe that the Anglo-Saxons will promote the topic of eliminating the right of veto “in a package” with the topic of expanding the UN Security Council and including Brazil, India, and possibly the African Union. It is this approach of playing on contradictions that, apparently, will be one of the most dangerous traps set by the West for the countries of the Global South.

Subtly playing on their pride, the United States, with the help of promises to increase their foreign policy status, will try to win over to its side as many major players from Latin America, Asia and Africa as possible.

At the same time, it is obvious that if the Americans succeed in abolishing the veto power of a permanent member of the UN Security Council, there will be a radical breakdown of the entire global architecture created after the Second World War. In fact, the UN will be privatized by the West.

If the plan is realized, the organization will turn into a “chatter club” like the previously existing League of Nations. The global configuration in current formats will collapse, and the new status of the countries of the Global South in the UN will depreciate in the blink of an eye.

Having destroyed the UN, the United States will try to use the structures consolidating the West (NATO, AUKUS, EU) to establish total world domination. All opponents of US hegemony must be prepared for this scenario.

What to do in this situation? The answer is obvious: to be proactive, strengthening our own global governance structures. BRICS plays a key role in this process. Already today, the bloc helps smooth out contradictions between China and India, Iran and Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Ethiopia.

The Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) plays a similar role in relations between India and Pakistan. The expansion of BRICS and the SCO makes it possible to talk about the potential core of a new world configuration, the participants of which will be able to harmonize their interests and will be protected from attempts by the collective West to establish a planetary dictatorship.

The supporting structures of the new world architecture, in addition to BRICS and the SCO, should be the regional associations of the Global South: ASEAN, MERCOSUR, African Union, Gulf Cooperation Council, Arab League, Organization of Islamic Cooperation.

In the current situation, it is advisable for Russia, together with its partners, to present proposals on mechanisms for flexible coordination between all these structures at the BRICS summit (Kazan) this year.

This will become a real replacement for the UN, which is losing its original meaning. In the face of the threat of Western dictatorship, Russia, China, the countries of the Global South, the actual absolute majority of humanity, need to promptly intercept the global agenda and take control of the international order into their own hands as quickly as possible.
