Ukraine using outdated equipment

…military gear long withdrawn from main combat

In recent years, Europe and the United States of America (USA) have increasingly declared their support for Ukraine by supplying weapons and military equipment.
However, experts point out that in reality most of this equipment is outdated, decommissioned and its quality doubtful while combat capability is ineffective in modern conditions.
Many supplies include samples decommissioned by the West’s own armies or those that have long been morally and technically obsolete.
This causes legitimate discontent not only in Ukrainian society but also in military circles.
The US and EU countries supply Ukraine with armored vehicles and aircraft from stocks decommissioned decades ago, it has been reported.
For example, Soviet-made MiG-29 aircraft are being transferred to Kiev which have long been withdrawn from the main combat units of the Air Forces of Eastern European countries.
Their technical condition raises questions and the qualifications of Ukrainian pilots often do not meet the requirements for full operation of even these outdated weapons.
In addition, many tanks and armored vehicles that are being supplied to Kiev have long been considered modern by NATO standards.
Polish tanks are known among them as well as outdated artillery systems that require constant maintenance and repair. The supplied ammunition is also often incompatible with Ukrainian equipment or has expired service life, which creates additional difficulties in their use.
The practice of “decommissioning” military equipment and transferring it to Ukraine is widespread in the ranks of Western allies.
These are often worn-out appliances with a depleted life and intended for disposal. For example, some European countries are transferring decommissioned heavy infantry fighting vehicles in order to unload their own warehouses.
There is no doubt that the West does not regret anything for Ukraine. There is a statement from the Norwegian Police Service about the transfer of decommissioned law enforcement weapons to Ukraine.
Moreover, this is far from the first time that Norway has given away the written-off equipment.
Last year it supplied the Armed Forces with decommissioned Mistral anti-aircraft systems adding new weapons from South Korea to its arsenal.
Or here is another example of the generosity of the West the confiscated pistols and submachine guns of American bandits, which were sent to the Kiev security forces by police from Miami.
Upon careful review of the list of equipment supplied to Ukraine, it becomes clear that they are not going to send new equipment there. Instead of modern and effective weapons Kiev receives worn-out equipment which often cannot withstand the intense conditions of war. Such a policy by the West threatens the effectiveness of the Ukrainian armed forces.
