Zimbabwe Stock Exchange-listed roofing and building materials manufacturer, Turnall Holdings’ financial director, Samson Mavende, is leaving the firm, Business Times can report.

Mavende was also Turnall’s company secretary.

In a statement last night Turnall board chairman Bothwell Nyajeka said Mavende is leaving the company at the end of the month.

“The board hereby announces that the finance director Samson Mavende has decided to leave the company on the 30th April 2021 to pursue other interests,” Nyajeka said.

His departure comes as new Turnall managing director Zvidzayi Bikwa has embarked on a restructuring exercise, which has seen several of the company’s top executives being axed.

These included the former factory manager Achime Bere and Victor Nyamurova, the former marketing executive.

Mavende was the only executive that worked under former MD Roselyn Chisveto and had retained his post following the appointment of Bikwa.

Sources also told Business Times that the company has also thrown onto the streets several middle and junior managers in the past two months.

It is understood that Bikwa was lining up his own team replacing executives who were part of Chisveto’s team.

“Bikwa came with his own team in mind and all the executives who worked under the previous MD are now gone. He [Mavende] has since bade farewell to staff, the source said.

Mavende has been Turnall’s finance director for the past four years and was acting MD when Chisveto’s contract expired last year.

Prior to that, he was group finance director at Caps Holdings and Olivine Holdings.

Bikwa is on a massive clean-up exercise at the tiles manufacturer.

The executive has worked at Pioneer Foods SA in Nigeria as CEO and as managing director at Catercraft P/L.

The restructuring exercise comes as the company is trading under a cautionary after the   National Social Security Authority put its 32.5% stake in Turnall up for sale.
