Tendy Three Investments (TTI), the company  contracted to manage Bulawayo’s parking management system, has donated school furniture worth US$44 000 to Binga High School in Matabeleland North Province as part of its social corporate responsibility, Business Times can report.

The move will improve the learning environment.

TTI’s managing director, Bongani Nyathi said: “We donated 500 desks and chairs to Binga High school. The cost of the furniture was US$40 000 plus US$4000 for the transportation of these desks.

“We feel it will help a lot because the school furniture was dilapidated and not enough for the students.”

He added: “Now all the students will be able to learn while sitting comfortably. When we got this message from the School Development Association  saying they are struggling with their budget to purchase the school furniture we saw it as our social corporate responsibility to assist them.

“Now that they acquired furniture they are now moving the budget to focus on other issues. We are hoping that the furniture will assist these students in the next coming years.”

Some schools in rural areas have challenges such as shortage of classrooms, furniture and learning materials such as textbooks making it difficult for them to comply with the requirements of the recommended Standard Operating Procedures.

The coordinator and head of  maths department  at Binga High School, Elliott Tembo  welcomed the move by TTI saying: “This donation is going to help the school in so many ways. Children are going to write properly on new and nice tables. It will give them the opportunity to concentrate on their studies. This will make a very positive impact on the pupils.”
