Swiss Global leverages on IATA association

BUSINESS REPORTER

International air courier and express services provider for business and private customers, Swiss Global, is leveraging on its association with International Air Transport Association (IATA) to rope in all local importers to use its freighting services to bring raw materials.

Swiss Global managing director Eddington Munatsi told Business Times that the company intends play a key role in the various sectors of the economy through the transportation of raw materials and critical equipment for agriculture, manufacturing and mining.

“As an IATA agent we are focused on the following which include working more closely with all Zimbabwean importers on a commercial scale, engaging all Zimbabwean industrial sectors such as mining, medical and including agricultural  and  also hoping to engage  the government on some large national projects,” Munatsi said.

He said IATA accreditation gives the company access to all the airlines across the world as they  get preferential rates.

“As a result we are in a position to provide low rates via a robust worldwide network,” Munatsi said.

“Our sea freight service is the one that has been affected by delays. We have added shipping to our portfolio that offers a direct service from the UK to African ports.”

He said the company has also increased its road haulage trucks “in order to move trucks as soon as they arrive”.

Swiss Global has invested in excess of US$1m in tracking technology to detect customers’ goods at any given time.

This follows the delays in the movement of some goods due to Covid-19 restrictions in some countries.

“We have invested US$1m to detect our clients’ goods at any given time. Lately, we suffered a setback but we would like to assure our customers that their goods will come in the shortest possible time,” Munatsi said.

Swiss Global was established in 2008 and specialises in air and sea cargo for commercial companies and individuals.

The local operation is known as Swiss Global Zimbabwe.
