Seed Co hosts input scheme symposium

BUSINESS WRITER

Listed seed producer, Seed Co Zimbabwe,  will Tuesday host a virtual employee input scheme symposium , meant to encourage companies to purchase seeds for their employees.

Seed Co senior manager for public relations and special programmes, Marjorie Mutemererwa said the scheme would bring about an opportunity for internal corporate social responsibility and investment where corporates are encouraged to procure seeds for their employees either as a Christmas gift or as a deductible expense.

“Such an initiative will promote workforce productivity as this will boost employee morale. Instead of employees roaming around looking for seed that is suitable for their ecological regions, employers can purchase from Seed Co. This is about being innovative and managing down time. It is also about positively enhancing employer and employee relationships” Mutemererwa, said.

She said Seed Co will also offer good agronomic advice and best farming practices.

“As Seed Co, we also have new varieties in our product portfolio. In the Mbizi/Dube/Zebra series, we have SC555, a real gem. This variety has become very popular with farmers as it gives improved yields. It is a border to border high yielder.”

Seed Co seed maize varietal attributes cover every ecological and geographical region of Zimbabwe.

They are all high yielders and have a stay green colour SC419 Monkey/Inkawu/Tsoko: very early, SC657: Lion/Shumba/Isilwane medium, SC661: Lion/Shumba/Isilwane: late SC729: Elephant/Nzou/iNdhlovu.

Seed Co has 20 agronomists who work very closely with Agritex Officers.

The chief executive officers, managing directors, human resources executives and all decision makers are encouraged to attend the virtual meeting where they will learn about the Seed Co seeds, Mutemererwa said.
