Seed Co spokesperson, Marjorie Mutemererwa, said the donation was part of the company’s corporate social responsibility programme (CSR).
“CSR is an integral part of who we are at Seed Co. Being socially responsible has always been our strong guiding value.
“Our key focus is to plough back into communities and contribute to the various facets of community development and the sustainability aspect of life in general,” Mutemererwa said.
She added: “As Seed Co, we are greatly honoured to be making a donation of 466 blankets. As we are nearly approaching the winter season, this will help our students here to keep them warm in their dormitories.”
The school headmaster, Tapiwa Madamombe, said Copota had a strong relationship with Seed Co Limited.
Seed Co, previously donated five tonnes of mealie meal, groceries and other basic commodities to Copota.
Established in 1915, with one student, Copota School of the Blind has grown exponentially to accommodate 160 students in primary school and 147 students in the high school.
The school has provided a safe haven for visually impaired students who are often denied a chance at education due to negative social stigma.
