TATENDA CHIKARA IN CHIVI
Preparations for the development of a smart city in Chivi district, Masvingo Province, is at an advanced stage as the plan has been approved, the area’s legislator Ephraim Gwanongodza has said.
The project is undertaken by the Infrastructure Development Bank of Zimbabwe (IDBZ).
“..The layout plan was approved by the physical planning department. They are now left with clearing the area for such developments because some land is in use by villagers,” Gwanongodza said.
He added: “The people who are within the surrounding area should be involved in the discussions to relocate them .”
Chivi Rural District Council CEO, Tariro Matavire said the local authorities were set to meet with the IDBZ.
“The smart city layout was approved and soon we are going to meet the IDBZ to see when they are going to start the project.
“We need to discuss the MOU on when they will start the work because they are keen to put the entire necessary infrastructure at Chibi turnoff,” Matavire said.
The structures consist of roads, sewer reticulation system, water, electricity and after that stands will be sold to developers for developments.
