Hevoi FM News and Current Affairs Editor Samuel Njinga has won the top television award at the 2026 Hippo Valley Estates Media Awards, further cementing his reputation as one of Zimbabwe’s leading broadcast journalists.
The awards ceremony, held in Harare, honoured journalists whose work highlighted the impact of Hippo Valley Estates’ Tadzika Midzi initiative, launched to commemorate the company’s 70th anniversary through storytelling that showcased its contributions to community development, agriculture, environmental stewardship and sustainable livelihoods.
Njinga scooped the top television award for a documentary that compellingly chronicled Hippo Valley Estates’ developmental journey under the Tadzika Midzi campaign.
The documentary showcased the company’s long-standing investments in communities, heritage preservation and socio-economic transformation, while capturing the experiences and testimonies of beneficiaries and key stakeholders.
The latest recognition marks Njinga’s sixth career award, underscoring his consistent excellence in broadcast journalism and his ability to produce impactful, development-focused content.
Speaking at the awards ceremony, Hippo Valley Estates’ Corporate and Industrial Affairs Head Dr Dahlia Garwe commended journalists for their overwhelming participation and professionalism in producing stories that reflected the company’s positive impact on communities.
She said the high quality of submissions demonstrated the media’s commitment to highlighting development initiatives that contribute to Zimbabwe’s socio-economic progress.
Tongaat Hulett Zimbabwe Group Chief Executive Officer Tendai Masawi also applauded the media fraternity for its vital role in informing, educating and documenting corporate initiatives that transform lives.
Masawi said responsible journalism remains an indispensable partner in advancing sustainable development by bringing stories of progress closer to the public.
