New AB Communications CEO outlines vision

AB Communications’ new chief executive officer (CEO),Benson Mbewe,has outlined his strategic vision for the group to be anchored on digital innovation.

Mbewe, this week succeeded Susan Makore at the helm of AB Communications, who left the group to avoid a potential conflict of interest after her recent appointment as Commissioner of the Zimbabwe Media Commission by President Emmerson Mnangagwa.

“Our mantra for 2021 is to have a digitally anchored organisation, everything we are going to be doing will be digitally anchored, be it our interaction with clients (and other stakeholders),” Mbewe said.

He added: “In the face of this deadly COVID-19 pandemic, we are also encouraging our clients to do their part by making sure that we minimise physical contact, we minimise company visits but we make sure that we satify our clients through our digital platform.

Mbewe said he would maintain the company – client relationship made by his predecessor.

“We normally know that when there is change in leadership a lot of people will be a bit sceptical, but I just want to assure our various stakeholders that whatever it is that they used to do with Susan Makore our CEO, it should continue.

And, we promise that a lot of exciting programmes are coming,” he said.

Mbewe is an astute business leader, marketer and strategist with vast experience in the media and financial sectors.

With 10 years working experience in the financial and media sectors, he is a passionate digital marketer and a strong believer in innovation and creativity for corporate sustainability.

He holds a Bachelor of Business Studies and Master of Business Administration degrees from University of Zimbabwe and Master of  Development Policy degree from the KDI School of Public Policy and Management, South Korea.
