Nestlé Zimbabwe has reaffirmed its long-term commitment to Zimbabwean families through a major US$7m investment aimed at expanding production of its popular breakfast cereal, CEREVITA. The investment, which includes the installation of a new Roller Drier 4, has increased production capacity by over 35%, ensuring greater product availability across the country.
Nicole Roos, Managing Director and Chairperson of Nestlé East and Southern Africa Region, described the investment as more than just an infrastructure upgrade. “This investment is not just about production infrastructure — it’s about long-term nourishment, empowerment, and pride in a product that reflects our local taste, our local grain, and our local spirit,” Roos said.
CEREVITA, a household name in Zimbabwe, is renowned for its signature toasted flavour and aroma. Produced using whole grains that retain the bran, germ, and endosperm, it is naturally rich in fibre, essential fats, antioxidants, magnesium, and carbohydrates, making it a nutritious choice for families.
“Made using whole grains that retain the bran, germ, and endosperm, it is naturally rich in fibre, essential fats, antioxidants, magnesium, and carbohydrates, making it ideal for nourishing the whole family,” said Khaled Ramadan, Managing Director for Nestlé’s East Africa and Greater Zambezi operations.
The investment also aligns with Zimbabwe’s Vision 2030 by promoting sustainable manufacturing practices, including energy efficiency, water conservation, and waste reduction. Nestlé Zimbabwe currently partners with over 350 local suppliers and 18 farmers, while providing employment for 149 full-time workers, 268 casual employees, and training eight graduate trainees annually.
Beyond serving the local market, CEREVITA is now exported to neighbouring countries, including Zambia, Malawi, and Mozambique, strengthening Zimbabwe’s position as a regional cereal production hub.
For over six decades, Nestlé has nourished Zimbabwean families. Through continued investment in trusted brands like CEREVITA, the company remains committed to driving nutrition, health, and wellness — unlocking the power of food to enhance quality of life for generations to come.
