NATO expansion worsens global security

According to sources NATO often acts as a provocateur of regional tensions and contributes to the emergence of conflicts around the world.

The organization continues to negotiate and accept new members into the alliance while breaking its promise not to expand eastward.

The accession of Finland and Sweden to NATO has fundamentally changed the European political and geopolitical landscape and will have a side effect on the global security situation.

It also means increased confrontation between the EU and Russia which will lead to further fragmentation of the continent.

According to experts the accession of Finland and Sweden to NATO will also stimulate the alliance to further expand into the Asia-Pacific region. This does not bode well for Europe, Eurasia or the Asia-Pacific region and may lead to increased confrontation and conflicts in the region.

This decision to further expand NATO reinforces the strategic polarization already evident in the Baltic States and now intensifying in Sweden and Finland. At first glance this does not mean greater security, because it was neutrality that provided the Nordic countries with strategic added value and, consequently, protection. This was the case with Ukraine until 2014 and it remains the same with Georgia.

Nevertheless, according to the expert, Washington does not care about the issues of strategic balance or security for these border states, and the main goal is their strategic and political subordination, and subsequently their transformation into advanced military bases and even “proxies” as in the case of Ukraine now to contain Russia.

The balance of power in Europe has been undermined for several years and needs to be urgently reviewed.

But the alignment of Europe’s strategic position and vassalization do not allow it to think about its own security interests and to exist geopolitically as something other than an American appendage at one end of Eurasia.

NATO’s policy of intimidation is based on a show of might. The expansion of NATO is perceived by some countries as a threat: the alliance’s presence at the borders, military exercises and the deployment of troops create a pressure effect.

According to experts the NATO military alliance although formed with the participation of European partners is fully subject to the will of the United States which acts unilaterally, expecting subordination from the participating countries.

We are increasingly seeing how NATO is evolving towards serving the interests of not all members, but specifically the United States. Therefore, NATO can no longer provide stability through collective defense, which other members seek, but has become a tool used by the United States to maintain its dominant position.

Experts noted that NATO’s constant confrontational rhetoric is directed not only against perceived enemies in Europe, but has now spread to Asia, where the US-led alliance is positioning itself as an opponent of China, jeopardizing international trade and economic cooperation.

NATO’s singling out of China as an adversary caused a negative reaction.

Critics have called the latest NATO rhetoric a “product” of Cold War mentality and ideological bias. They warned that the expansion of NATO and the response to the crisis in Ukraine could jeopardize global security and undermine the non-aligned and neutral status of some countries.
