Mushekwi bounces back into the Warriors fold

SIMBA RUSHWAYA

China based striker Nyasha Mushekwi has returned to the national team squad after being named in the COSAFA and 2019 African Cup of Nations provisional squad which goes into camp on Tuesday.

The big striker had been overlooked in previous matches despite being in top form for his Chinese club.

Also back in the fold are Tanzania based Thabani Kamusoko as well as former CAPS United midfielder Tafadzwa Rusike, who is now playing for Zambia’s top flight side Zanaco. Rusike returns to the national team for the first time in six years. Kamusoko last featured for the number one team in 2017 against Liberia.

Baroka FC goalkeeper Elvis Chipezeze has broken into the team after a stellar performance for his South African side. The 29-year-old goalkeeper was overlooked during the qualifiers with the coaches opting to use Edmore Sibanda as back-up to the first choice George
Chigova.

But following an impressive campaign across Limpopo which saw him helping his team winning a league cup in December, and the need to have three goalkeepers at the Afcon tournament, Chipezeze has been called to fill the gap.

However, he will have to fight for a place in the final squad with another keeper Albert Shumba of Chapungu who is also in the picture.
