Mpofu appointed BT Acting Editor

AB Communications has appointed Bernard Mpofu as acting editor of Zimbabwe’s fastest growing financial and business weekly newspaper Business Times.

The appointment is with immediate effect.

Mpofu takes over from Happiness Zengeni who stepped down this month.

In announcing Mpofu’s appointment, AB Communications’ Group Editor-in-Chief Kelvin Jakachira, said the media house was confident the award-winning journalist will take the Business Times to another level.

“No doubt, Bernard has the pedigree to take the Business Times to another level,” Jakachira said last night. “With the formidable team at Business Times and a captain like Bernard there is no doubt the Business Times is poised to change the landscape of business and financial journalism not only in Zimbabwe but in the region and beyond.”

Mpofu, who has experience spanning to over a decade in business and financial journalism, joined the Business Times at its launch in July 2018 as Deputy Editor. Before joining the fast growing business weekly, Mpofu worked for the Zimbabwe Independent, Financial Gazette and NewsDay in different capacities.

Business Times has strong synergies with other business units within the AB Communications Group which includes ZiFM Stereo, the country’s hottest radio station, Mighty Movies, Hevoi FM [Masvingo], 98.4 Midlands, TruckAds and Oskid 6 Finger Records.

Jakachira said AB Communications will soon be announcing more exciting developments within the Group.

“AB Communications has over the years positioned itself as the most strategic multimedia house in Zimbabwe and in consolidating this position the company will be unveiling new media products soon,” he said.
