Ministries launch fitness programme

The ministries of Information Communication Technology,Postal and Courier Services and Sport , Recreation, Arts and Culture jointly launched  fitness, wellness and sporting programmes in the capital Harare on Thursday in an effort to encourage and motivate  the country’s  minority population to embrace fitness as a vital component of their everyday lives.

 

Tatenda Mavetera, the Minister of Information and Communication Technology, Postal and Courier Services, who was represented by her deputy, Dingumuzi Phuti, expressed excitement over the ministry’s introduction of the transformative  project.

“Today makes a significant day as we gather here to launch a transformative initiative that will positively impact the well-being and the lives of our esteemed ICT community,” Mavetera said.

 

She added: “Wellness is the entire of who we are as individuals .If you are not well you can not perform ,have confidence,you can be even spiritually very low.”

“It is crucial to recognise the importance of incorporating a holistic approach to wellness , encompassing physical fitness , mental health and overall wellness practices.

“The initiative we are launching today will thus save lives , safeguard our status from challenges related to fitness and mental health.

“Regular physical exercise has been proven reduce the risks of chronic illness,boost moods , enhance productivity,improve overall quality of life and so our goal is to inspire and motivate each one of us to embrace  fitness as an integral part of our daily routines.

We believe that when individuals prioritize their well-being ,they become more resilient, experience great life ,balance and contribute more effectively to their family ,work places , communities,

“The fitness and wellness programme will offer a diverse range of activities that cater for different interest  and fitness levels .”

 

Precious Shonhai a representative from the Ministry of Sport, Recreation, Arts and Culture weighed in saying:”The objectives of our Ministry is to come up with the inter-ministerial committee for fitness and wellness among the civil servants ,to promote the overall fitness and wellness among civil servants ,to promote weight loose and weight management to enhance flexibility and self confidence.”

She added:”The fitness programmes makes a positive contribution to the planning of life within the work force .The main objective is to make a positive contribution to change lives within the work force.”
