Mining, Farming companies to import  own fuel

SIMBA RUSHWAYA
The government has said it will allow big mining and farming entities to import their own fuel to cover their operations rather than wait for the central government to provide an allocation.
Addressing a post cabinet press conference, the Minister of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services Monica Mutsvangwa said eight million litres of diesel were injected into the market this week as they strive to contain the troublesome fuel situation.
“Cabinet has given the green light to large companies such as those in the mining sector to use their funds to import fuel for their use,” said Mutsvangwa.
The Minister of Energy and Power Development Joram Gumbo added that no individuals were allowed to import fuel.
“Government is urging mining and farming companies to use their own funds to import fuel for their strategic operations.
” The reason why we have destabilization in the fuel market is because companies sometimes bring the same product at once hence the diesel or petrol deficit… sometimes, ” said Gumbo.
