Lafarge CEO in ‘shock’ exit

BUSINESS REPORTER

Lafarge Cement Zimbabwe’s first female CEO Precious Murena has left the company to pursue new interests after 18 months at the helm, the company said Friday.

In a statement, board chairman Kumbirai Katsande said the company recorded “remarkable results in her first year as CEO in 2020”.

“Precious Murena championed capital projects and introduced new technologies in building. Precious will always be remembered as the first female Zimbabwean to become a Chief Executive Officer of Lafarge Cement Zimbabwe Limited,” Katsande said.

CFO Amr Elmowafy Aly Mowafy has been appointed acting CEO until the appointment of a substantive chief executive officer, Katsande said.

Murena and Edgars CEO Tjeludo Ndlovu were the two female CEOs of companies listed on the Zimbabwe Stock Exchange.
