Fossils appoints new executives at Lafarge Cement Zimbabwe

Barely a week after Fossils Mines (Private) Limited snapped up a controlling stake, Lafarge Cement Zimbabwe has the appointed two senior executives following the departure of the CEO and chief finance officer.

In notices Monday, Lafarge said Innocent Zulu Chikwata has been appointed as acting CEO while Willcort Dzuda becomes the acting chief finance officer with effect from December 1.

The duo replaces Goeffrey Ndugwa and Amry El Moufay who have ended their tenures as CEO and CFO respectively with the Zimbabwe Stock Exchange listed entity, sources told Business Times.

The notices, which were signed by Ndugwa, did not state the reasons for the departure of the two top executives.

Last week, Lafarge Cement Zimbabwe announced that Fossils Mines (Private Limited) concluded the acquisition of a 76.45% stake from Associated International Cement Limited to become the controlling shareholder.

Until the appointment, Chikwata was the commercial director since 2020. He joined the company as sales manager in November 2017. He has 16 years of experience in the FMCG and construction material industries.

A chartered accountant and registered public auditor, Dzuda has 25 years’ experience in auditing, consultancy, financial management, strategic and the execution of turnaround strategies for companies, Lafarge Cement Zimbabwe said.
