Victoria Falls Stock Exchange (VFEX) listed WestProp Holdings chairperson Dr Michael Louis has hailed President Emmerson Mnangagwa and his government for creating a conducive environment for Public Private Partnerships and implored investors to take advantage of the “open for business mantra.”

He was speaking in an interview with Business Times after a groundbreaking ceremony at the Millennium Heights project in Harare recently.

The ground breaking ceremony was attended by President Mnangagwa, Vice President Kembo Mohadi, Defense Minister Oppah Muchinguri-Kashiri, several Cabinet Minister and senior government officials.

“The big thing today is it’s all about Public Private Partnerships and the way that the President and the whole State was here has meant a lot because it does create a conducive environment for us to develop,” Louis said.

“The problem I have is many people in other countries do not realize the great opportunities in Zimbabwe. The President appointed the Minister of Finance who is also responsible for investment promotion. I want him to use that more to promote investment in Zimbabwe and that the diaspora experiences it too,” he added.

Speaking after the event, company Chief Executive Officer, Ken Sharpe, revealed that more than half of residential units at Millennium Heights’ new block have already been sold.

Over US$100 million was used for the establishment of the Millenium Heights Block 4 apartments.

“I am glad to announce that we have sold, as of today, more than 50% of that building. There’s less than 50% available, so thank you to our customers. We value your support and congratulate you. Today marks a milestone in our history. We are breaking ground for the construction of Millennium Heights Block 4 luxury apartments, and we continue to move towards achieving our one billion bricks vision by 2050,” he said.

“With the first three blocks that we have finished constructing, just under 200 units have been populated and now we are adding over 80 units in Block 4. So, we can say we are getting close to 300 units. We are doing one building a year and we are hoping to increase to two buildings a year.”
